Monday's chateau...Château de Betz
The current castle in the small village of Betz-le-Chateau in Southern Touraine dates from the 15th century and has fairly unique accessible underground caves which were designed to protect the residents in the event of attacks, They also has an underground well allowing them to stay there longer during a siege. The castle has had major restoration work done recently where the machicolations were reinstated and the underground caves made more secure.
