Bon week-end - have a good weekend everyone - Chateau du Rivau.

Autumn brings a particularly appropriate celebration to Château du Rivau, where the Potager de Gargantua becomes the setting for the Fête de la Citrouille et de l’Automne. The potager is known for its collection of cucurbits and forgotten vegetable varieties, making pumpkins and gourds very much at home here.

This year’s festival takes place on 10 and 11 October 2026, with garden tours, creative workshops, pumpkin activities, a market of around 50 artisans and exhibitors, and the chance to discover the gardens in their autumn colours.

Monday's Chateau - Chateau du Rivau.

Château du Rivau is one of those châteaux that seems to change character with every viewpoint. The towers, walls, gardens and surrounding landscape give it plenty of different faces, making it surprisingly photogenic from almost any angle. Chateau du Rivau -Monday's chateau.

Rising above its colorful gardens, Château du Rivau is one of the Loire Valley's most enchanting castles. Its white tufa stone walls and slate-roofed towers reflect both its medieval origins and its elegant Renaissance transformation, while the remarkable gardens add a touch of fantasy to every visit.

Unlike many Loire châteaux, Le Rivau combines history with creativity. The formal gardens are filled with themed displays, contemporary sculptures and thousands of flowers, making each season a little different from the last. It's a castle where history and imagination sit comfortably side by side.

According to local tradition, Joan of Arc stopped at Château du Rivau in 1429 to collect fresh horses on her journey to Chinon, where she would meet the future King Charles VII before the campaign that led to the lifting of the siege of Orléans. Today, the château's celebrated fairy-tale gardens include more than a dozen themed spaces inspired by legends, literature and medieval stories.

Thursday's 'taken in Touraine'...Château du Rivau.

Part fairytale fortress, part Renaissance residence, the Château du Rivau rises somewhat unexpectedly from the Touraine countryside near the village of Lémeré.

Today the château is famous for its remarkable child friendly gardens, especially its roses. On the 6th and 7th of June, the annual Rose Festival returns, when the gardens are at their most colourful and fragrant, drawing visitors from across the Loire Valley and beyond.
