Monday's chateau in Centre-Valde Loire - Chateau de Boussay

This private chateau which sits on the edge of the small village of Boussay in Southern Touraine has its origins in the 11^th century. The current chateau with its 15 the century tower and its 17^th / 18th century heart and wings does not make for such a harmonious ensemble, yet sits well within its moats as an original homage to change and at the same time stability, as since 1342, it has been owned by the same family. Although private, visitors can stroll freely around the grounds that surround the chateau.

Monday's Loire Valley Chateau - 500years at Chateau de Chambord

This Monday's Loire Valley chateau has to be the mighty Chateau de Chambord celebrating 500 years since construction began way back in 1519.

One image that defines the iconic nature of this Renaissance masterpiece is its internal double helix staircase...

another is its rooftop lantern tower and chimneys. 

The recreation of its formal gardens only adds to its appeal to visitors to the Loire Valley.

We love the form of  Chateau Fougeres-sur-Bievre, which sits 10km southwest of Chateau de Cheverny, for its lack of  any real ostentatious features - this is a castle!
