Bon week-end have a good weekend everyone.

Market day in Loches with outdoor café terraces, stalls, and people browsing in a historic Loire Valley town square

In the heart of Loches, market day (Sat./Wed.) brings a gentle buzz that feels both timeless and quietly lively. Stalls fill the square with colour and conversation, while locals and visitors move easily from one stand to the next, pausing, chatting, choosing.

There’s no rush here. A coffee on the terrace stretches a little longer, a simple purchase turns into a friendly exchange and the morning unfolds at its own pace. It’s these small moments that define a Loire weekend, unhurried, welcoming, and full of everyday charm.

If you visit Loches for the market today why not stay and visit its monuments and later stay for an evening meal so as to come out and appreciate its night ambiance.

Wednesday is Loches day -- why not visit the gardens after lunch.

A visit to the Wednesday market at Loches is a good way to experience the town as it creates a good atmosphere for strolling through its ancient streets. If you stay on for lunch and you should, afterwards you should seek out the calm of the public gardens which will also give you a great photo opportunity with excellent views up to the citadel. Please remember that you still need to practice safe procedures and consider others while in what will be a busy environment.

Wednesday is Loches day - why not soak up some history...

If you are in Loches for the Wednesday market you should visit the imposing castle keep (donjonsitting as it does in its lofty situation, well chosen by Foulques (Fulk) Nerra the Count d'Anjou, above the town.

Wednesday is Loches day - or night

A view of the square and the Saint-Antoine tower in Loches at night

Loches on Wednesday is great as the morning has its unique feel that you only get in French markets plus the town offers history by the barrow load to make for a full day out. Why not make a day of it and stay and have a meal in the evening before taking in the night views of this impressive town. We did recently, dining in the lovely 'Hotel de France'
