These two windows in Preuilly-sur-Claise have clearly seen a few centuries.
Weathered limestone, peeling grey shutters left open to the street, delicate wrought-iron balconies and right above the lower arched window, a small carved emblem that looks like a pair of scissors.
In the days when every trade announced itself with a carved or painted sign, scissors were the classic mark of a tailor. So the quiet question inevitably arises: did a tailleur once live and work behind these shutters?
The building doesn’t shout its history. It just stands there, slightly tired, slightly elegant, letting the light fall across the peeling paint and the old ironwork.Between them, the scissors remain a small, almost forgotten signature from a time when the tools of a trade were carved into the stone itself.
