Today we feature one of the lesser known castles of the Loire Valley, Chateau de Luynes. I was at a loss for a wee while as to why we no longer list it on the site but recalled that it closed its doors back in 2016 due to the owner of this 12th century fortress, Duke Philippe d'Albert de Luynes, not being able to commit to the necessary changes to allow disabled access on what is a fairly difficult site to get to even for the abled bodied.
Bit of a shame as it is an interesting place, as it's still a family home. We were lucky enough to have visited before the decision to close its doors to the public but for the life of me can't find my post or pictures, do remember loads of tapestries and a very enthusiastic young French lady as our guide though.
