Tuesday for towns -Beaulieu-lès-Loches - a beautiful place?

Beaulieu-lès-Loches is a place that has struggled to return to any of its past's glory. Where there was once a large abbey complex, which, during medieval times allowed the town to prosper around it,today we only see vestiges of this with some of what remains of the Abbey being restored.
The abbey was founded here in 1007 by Fulk Nerra III and he is buried here within the chancel. What he didn't provide however was any defensive structure that might have kept invaders out, so making it easy for the English army to occupy it during the 'hundred years war'.Damage then and that of the French religious wars sent the place into a decline that it never recovered from.
