Tuesday for towns in Centre-Val de Loire - Argenton-sur-Creuse in Indre (36).

This small town, known as the Venice of Berry because of the way its old houses with galleries rest and are reflected on the river Creuse is very picturesque. The town has an Archaeological Museum with links to its Gallo-Roman past. There is a popular music (Debussay) festival in the town at the end of July .

Monday's chateau - Chateau des Lions, Preuilly-sur-Claise

 

This private chateau in Preuilly-sur-Claise in Southern Touraine has 14th century origins, it was restored and saved from collapsing in the early 20th century but perhaps it could be argued, not too sympathetically.

Church for Sunday - simple Saint Clair's in Pussigny

From the foundations of an original 11th century church Saint Clair's was remodeled in the 12th century and completely rebuilt in the 18th, except for the facade.The church, of a simple design,  includes a nave, a bell tower and a rectangular apse and brick vaults which were added at the end of the 19th century.

The church plays host to a painting by Mary Layne-Brossard from the 2017 edition of the village's art festival the 'Pussifolies' (see here) ,
