Tuesday for towns in the Loire Valley - Chinon
Today we feature the historic town of Chinon which sits on the banks of the mighty Vienne river just before its confluence with the river Loire.
Famous for its chateau with its links to the Plantagenet kings of England...
France's own Joan of Arc...
its quaint streets...
and of course its popular wines.

Monday's Loire Valley chateau - Azay-le-Rideau at Christmas
We went over to see how the chateau at Azay-le-Rideau had been decked-out for Christmas yesterday and were not disappointed.
The central salon was set out beautifully...
and as we walked through its rooms we were continually met with seasonal surprises.
This setting was full of automatons which played out a scene to music.
The ghostly image in one of the bedrooms.
The 'great attic' had its own lighting display...
All in all it was a very enjoyable day, despite the low temperature.
