Tuesday for towns and villages...Ferriere-Larcon

Today we feature the sleepy little Southern Touraine village of Ferrière-Larçon which sits about 12 km from Le Grand Pressigny The village has links to an Irish saint, the Knights Templar and a former Roman settlement, so is steeped in history.
Walking around its pretty little streets today you could be forgiven for thinking, like many of our local villages that time has stood still.

There are a number of troglodyte houses scattered throughout the village and on Rue des Caves (below) you will find a whole street of them.
The village has an interesting church which dominates its landscape.

The last time we did a walk around the village was way back in 2012 - how time flies!

Loire Valley church on Sunday - Saint Denise Amboise

Today we feature the Collegiate church of Saint Denis in Amboise. Built at the beginning of the 12th century on the site of an earlier church ( 4th century and Gallo-Roman monument before that ) it still,in spite of many alterations and renovations, hangs on to its Romanesque origins. It is well worth a visit when in the town.
