Chaumont Garden Festival 2014

The poppies were taken in the gardens of the Garden Festival at Chaumont-sur-Loire which is an annual event worth adding to your itinerary when visiting the Loire Valley.

This peacock is currently on display in the gardens at Descartes which are a delight all the year round...at their best during the summer months...but still a lovely place for a walk in springtime if you are visiting the very good Sunday market.

You bring the food...

Best square in France for aperitif...

Well, according to international travel site Lonely Planet (France) it's our very own Place Plumereau in Tours. Having spent time during every season of the year there, we have to agree. Its has its own feel that you really only recognize when you return for a second or third visit. You have a mix of local students, tourists and the business world all looking to escape - and Place Plumerau is the ideal place to do just that. You are spoilt for choice with regards to cafes and restaurants but as you sit, you have to take in your surroundings, you will be charmed by the restored half-timbered houses that watch over you from the past.

We can understand it claiming the top spot and yet the city of Tours itself has so much more to offer
