Monday's Loire Valley chateau - Chateau du Blois

Chateau du Blois is an excellent illustration of the evolution of the French architecture from the Middle Ages to the 17th century. It has a great royal history from Louis XII who built the oldest part of the chateau to Francois I who added the renaissance wing with the unique open circular staircase.

Wednesday for windows - in the 'house of fun'!

One of our favourite set of windows can be found at 'La Maison de la Magie Robert-Houdin', which sits opposite the courtyard of the chateau in Blois.

Tuesday for towns in the Loire Valley - back in Chinon

It was good to see a return to some form of normality in Chinon at the weekend with the restaurant terraces having some life at last, it is always a pleasure to walk the streets of this historic town.

Tuesday for towns in the Loire Valley...Langeais

We love Langeais for its quaint streets...

its formidable chateau with its drawbridge...

its beautiful church...

its lively Sunday market...

and of course its bridge over the Loire river.
